CADET TRAINING PROGRAMMES

Cadet Training | Ab Initio Pilot Development

HAFT provides structured ab initio helicopter training for defence, security, government and parapublic organisations. Cadets progress from initial flight training through licence, instrument, turbine and advanced development pathways aligned with the client’s operational requirements.

Conducted in South Africa, the programme develops technical competence, airmanship, procedural discipline and sound judgement, establishing the professional foundation required for future helicopter operations and mission-specific training.

PPL (H)

Foundation helicopter training develops aircraft handling, theoretical knowledge, airmanship, procedural discipline and decision-making. The PPL(H) establishes the technical and professional competencies required for progression into commercial, advanced and mission-specific training.

CPL (H)

The CPL(H) develops the cadet from foundation flying towards professional helicopter operations. Structured experience-building integrates navigation, flight planning, aircraft performance, technical knowledge and operational decision-making, ensuring training hours contribute directly to pilot capability.

Night Rating

Night Rating training develops aircraft control, planning, navigation and situational awareness in reduced visual conditions. It extends the pilot’s operating window and establishes a foundation for subsequent instrument and Night Vision Goggle training

NVG

NVG training develops the handling, crew coordination and operational judgement required to integrate night vision technology into helicopter operations. Pilots learn to manage equipment limitations, degraded visual conditions, terrain, workload and mission-specific night environments.

Instrument Rating

Instrument Rating training develops precise aircraft control, procedural flying and decision-making when external visual references are unavailable. Pilots build competence in IFR planning, navigation, instrument procedures, weather assessment and the management of inadvertent instrument conditions.

Multi-Crew Cooperation

Multi-Crew Cooperation training develops individual pilots into an effective cockpit team. It strengthens communication, task sharing, leadership, monitoring, workload management, situational awareness and decision-making for complex multi-pilot helicopter operations.

Initial Turbine

Initial Turbine training introduces pilots to turbine engine operation, aircraft systems, limitations, performance and power management. It develops the technical awareness and procedural discipline required to transition from piston training aircraft towards more complex operational helicopter platforms.

Advanced Training

Advanced Training develops helicopter handling, operational planning, crew coordination and judgement beyond licence-level competence. Programmes prepare aviators for demanding terrain, remote locations, non-standard landing environments, specialised mission requirements and changing operational conditions.

Discuss Your Operational Requirement
